Happy GM’s Day!

March 04th, 2008 | Category: Gaming, RPGs

Happy GM’s day, to all you screen monkeys, who put sweat each day to push your campaign one more session forward. Hats off to those of you, who spend hours brainstorming the perfect adventure, researching monsters and spells, working out dialog, drawing maps, and all the other stuff that makes your sessions shine.

Thanks for all your hard work. Enjoy your day.

As for me, this GM’s day, I plan on doing a little shopping on RPGnow.com, to take advantage of a few sales, of some things I have my eye on, and then I am playing in a small skirmish tinkering with all the leaked 4e rules. Spenser, is going to lead us through some micro-adventure. It will be nice to be playing something this GM’s Day.

What are you doing for GM’s Day?

Weekend Update- 03Mar2008

March 03rd, 2008 | Category: Weekend

A busy weekend for us at casa de DNAphil. There were a lot of small things that needed to get done, that have been piling up with the arrival of our daughter. I did spend a good portion of my online time this weekend, reading up on everyone notes from D&D Experience, and the first 4e information. My favorite source of information during the weekend was at the Critical Hits website. They were at D&DXP and had a number of great posts and some great pictures as well. Nice work guys.

On Sunday e did some work on our Dresden Files campaign (True20). The original GM, Spenser, has handed off the campaign to one of the players, Thom, to carry on. It turned out to be a fortituous event, because, I really did not like my character for the campaign. He was a Technomancer, and it really just did not fit in the Dresden universe well. So I switched up and made a Knight of the Cross, which was much more appealing to me, and I really connected with the character during the build. Sargon followed suit and tossed his White Court vampire, for a Runecaster, from the True20 Adepts Handbook. I think that the character changes will make for a much better group.

It has been some time since Thom ran a full campaign for us. His last official campaign was a Star Trek campaign, some time before 2k. He has run a few one-shots here and there, but nothing in the way of a full campaign. So it will be fun to have Thom behind the screen for a bit, and to have Spenser on the other side of the screen with us.

This week, I have two things planned. The first, is that I am going to put up a page, with a Cast of Characters. I often talk about the members of my gaming group, but I have not really provided any information about them, pictures, etc. So I will do that this week. On Friday, I am going to rant a bit, about Role Playing and Roll Playing, and how the two can really live together, despite what most of the EN World people think.

So stop by Friday as I dust off my soapbox and shake my fist at the digital heavens.
